Magnetic Resonance Imaging has developed into a powerful diagnostic imaging tool.  Utilizing physical properties of magnetic fields and radio waves, MRI can successfully generate high-quality images of human anatomy, displaying high tissue contrast and spatial resolution.

MRI is the superior modality for presenting images that may demonstrate pathological changes in soft tissue.  Bone distortion is non-existent, thus making MR a commonly used procedure for brain, spine and musculoskeletal imaging.  In additon, MR's sensitivity to flowing blood makes the technique particularly effective for cardiovascular imaging.  As a result, many steps are being taken to further develop MR Angiography in the detection and localization of vascular malformation.

MRI
provides a safe and easy procedure for the patient, with no ionizing radiation.  This inherent safety combined with constantly improving MR imaging techniques have made magnetic resonance an extremely successful and popular modality.  MRI will continue to develop as more and more physicians utilize the technology for primary clinical screening.
